Fully Funded Ireland Fellows Programme for Africans
This scholarship program offers Africans the chance to attend a one-year master’s level program at an Irish higher education institution (HEI) while also paying for their travel, housing, and living expenses. The main goals of this program are to find future leaders and strengthen ties with Ireland.
Eligbility Criteria
Applicants must fulfill the following criteria in order to be qualified for this program:
- The following nations are required for applicants to reside in: Burundi, DRC, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Eswatini, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
- Depending on the nation, the candidate must have a minimum of two or three years of significant work experience that is directly related to the proposed program(s) of study (see Pages 6 and 7 for further information).
- Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) from an accredited and government-recognized higher education institution, which is equivalent to a first- or second-class honors Grade 1 (a second-class honors Grade 2 may be accepted if the applicant has significant directly relevant work experience). It had to have been given out no earlier than 2011—that is, during the previous 12 years.
- Candidates cannot already be in possession of a master’s degree or higher. Not presently enrolled in or scheduled to begin a master’s degree-level or above program during the cited academic year.
- Applicants who want to start a new master’s program in Ireland no earlier than August of the relevant academic year.
- Candidates must be able to show that they have leadership skills and aspirations, are committed to helping your country achieve the SDGs, and are willing to help create links with Ireland.
- Applications must have identified and chosen three programs from the Director of Eliguble Programmes that are pertinent to your academic and professional background.
- The academic requirements and English language proficiency standards for each program must be understood clearly by applicants.
- Applicants must not have previously submitted more than one application to the Ireland Fellows Programme.
- must be able to accept the Fellowship during the new academic year.
