Francis Marion Drake, a Union general in the Civil War, and George T. Carpenter, a teacher and priest, founded Drake University in 1881. After Saint Louis University School of Law, Drake University’s law school is the second-oldest legal institution in the nation west of the Mississippi. Chester C. Cole, who served on the Iowa Supreme Court from 1864 until 1876, founded it in 1865.

The university’s first foreign students were nationals of China, Persia, Armenia, and Japan who registered for classes in 1886. Despite a housing shortage in 1920, the university permitted social professions to utilise Greek letter symbols and associate with national offices when its first campus library opened on June 16, 1908.

The Drake University Law School was founded in 1865. It is one of only 75 ABA-recognised law schools with an Order of the Coif chapter, is a founding member of the Association of American Law Schools, and has been accredited since approval began in 1923.
The American Judicature Society, the National Bar Association’s archives, and the Drake Constitutional Law Centre are all housed in the university’s Law School. The Drake Constitutional Law Centre is one of only four constitutional law programmes established by the U.S. Congress and supported by the federal government.

The Iowa College of Pharmacy joined Drake University in 1887 and ran as one of the university’s colleges until it was discontinued in 1906. Drake University didn’t have a pharmacy school, though, until 1939, when the Des Moines College of Pharmacy Corporation, which had split off from Des Moines University in 1927, was disbanded and the college’s faculty and resources were integrated into Drake.

Worth of Drake University Presidential Scholarships

Each recipient of a Drake University Presidential Scholarship will be given a partial scholarship worth between $21,000 and $25,000 per year to help with the expense of the chosen programme.

Eligibility for Drake University Presidential Scholarships

Each candidate must have taken the SAT or ACT and submit the original scores in order to be eligible for the Drake University Presidential Scholarships.
To be eligible for these scholarships, each applicant must be a first-year student who has been accepted by the institution into the desired programme.
Scholars must submit the following test results with the minimum scores required by the university in order to be considered: TOEFL IBT – 71, IELTS – 6.0, and Duolingo – 95.
